Gaston Choral Society, founded
in 1968, is a volunteer group of men and women singers. Our Constitution
states our purpose in three parts:
1) To afford members an opportunity to sing for fun, entertainment,
and inspiration in a choral group of high caliber and challenge;
2) To provide Gaston County with a choral organization complementary
to the growing interest in the musical arts; and
3) To acquaint our audience with . . . our cultural heritage and to
acknowledge folk, popular, contemporary, and master composers by singing
their compositions in concert.
Gaston Choral Society presents two major concerts a year: a Spring concert
and a Christmas concert. These concerts consist of a variety of choral
literature: Classical to contemporary, religious to whimsical, Broadway
to spirituals, both accompanied and a cappella. These musical pieces
are intended to appeal to a diversified audience with varied tastes in
music. The music is chosen by the director and reviewed by the Board
of Directors.
Rehearsals are every Thursday evening
at 7:30 on the third floor of Unity Place.
