  This community theatre, under the direction of Simon Donoghue, combines the talents of the college staff, students and members of the Belmont Community Theatre to produce a diverse, high-quality theatre season.

Performances are held in the Haid Theatre on Belmont Abbey's campus.

Acres of perennial gardens, themed garden rooms, computerized fountains, a visitors' pavilion and gift shop are just the beginning of this ever-expanding botanical learning center on South New Hope Road in Belmont. In addition to providing regular programming for seniors, children and families, the parks division partners with the United Arts Council to present Pops in the Park in the summer. This private school in the southern part of Gaston County provides education for grades K-12. It's most recent addition is the 600-seat Pamela Kimbrell Warlick Visual and Performing Arts Center. The school

With more than 65 members ranging in age from 16 to 75, this full brass and percussion band has become one of the finest and best-kept secrets in the local arts community. This community college in Dallas, NC, offers a wide range of undergraduate and associate degree courses, along with a full art program. Many of the Arts Council's affiliates and associates use the college's 600-seat Myers Center Auditorium for performances throughout the year. The new Jeannie Rauch Art Gallery, and the Beam Art Gallery host exhibits year-round.
 
One of the largest school systems in the state, Gaston schools offer public education grades K-12. They work in partnership with the Arts Council to bring resident artists and writers into the classrooms. An innovative arts-integration program will start next year at Ida Rankin Elementary School in Mount Holly. The arts will be used to assist in the teaching of basic curriculum classes such as history, math and language arts.
 
This woman's civic groups works in the Gaston County community to promote African-American culture
and to provide role models for young people. Each year they bring professional actors, singers and dancers into the schools for a program called "The African American Mosaic."
 

The Friends sponsor events to benefit the public libary programs, frequently bringing in nationally-recognized writers for talks and book signings. Guests have included Nicolas Sparks and Robert Morgan.
 
With branches all over the county, the public library system offers a network of services to the county. Computer services, children's programs, author appearances, lectures and the annual book sale are just a few of the services offered. The library alsoworks with the schools and the Arts Council to bring writers into the schools to work directly with students.
 
This group of music lovers and educators provides scholarships to high school music students to help them attend music camps at colleges and other locations. Every other year they sponsor a tour of homes in Gastonia to help raise money for the scholarship fund.
 
These groups seek to promote and learn more about gardening, landscaping and city beautification.
 
ousing profoundly handicapped children, Holy Angels works to bring the arts to its residents as a form of
therapy. A creative arts therapist introduces residents to music and art to help enrich their lives and stimulate their senses.
 
This group for music lovers holds monthly meetings featuring different musicians and programs. They work in conjunction with the Music Education Foundation to raise awareness of the needs for scholarships for student musicians.
 
A civic group that promotes, funds and produces a county-wide student art show each winter. The contest includes categories for visual and performing arts, such as drama and music. High school and middle school students enter their work, which is judged for prizes. The show is then put on exhibit open to the public.
 
What looks like a complicated name is really a group dedicated to preserving a simple idea - barbershop
harmony. Locally known as the Chordweavers, this choral group studies and performs this American tradional way of singing. They perform in many venues and hold several concerts throughout the year.
 
Concentrating on telling the story of the Carolinas' indigenous people, fauna and flora, this museum is
packed with exhibits and bustling with activity. A planetarium, the Hall of Man, displays of stuffed and
mounted wildlife, revolving exhibits, a Nature Trail and displays of nature-themed art are just some

This civic group provides scores of volunteers to area non-profits and charities, where they do everything from serving on boards and committees to serving drinks at fund-raising events. Their focus is on helping children, whether in health related fields, the arts or social programs.
 
For decades, this community theatre has produced a full season of plays using amateurs both on and behind the stage. With their own theatre on Clay Street, Little Theatre brings comedy, drama and music to the stage. Auditions are open to the public. For ticket and season information call 865-0160.

•  The Carolinas Textile Exhibit   -- tells the story of textile manufacturing in the Carolinas thru interesting artifacts and videos.

•  Daniel Stowe Carriage House tells the story of horse-drawn vehicles from sporty buggies to sleighs and commercial haulers.

•  Parlors and hotel rooms authentically furnished rooms from the past

•  Hands - on Parlor – you can touch things here!   Play the pump organ, look thru the stereopticon, and “sit up straight” in old-fashioned chairs.  

Changing exhibits:

•  High Seas to High Shoals great works of art, historic artifacts, and rare scientific specimens on loan from the Smithsonian and other majore museums thru December 31, 2003
